Goals

The centre of Pompidou collaborates with artists and students to create a concept of how artworks can be embedded into the digital world. The students were free to choose an art piece and had the complete freedom to create an embedded art piece. For this project, we choose Salon Adam, which was a room designed by Yaacov Agam for Élysée Palace, which was part of the private apartment of president George Pompidou from 1972 to 1974. Later the room was moved to the Pompidou museum, where it's part of the permanent collection to this day.

At the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdowns (March 2020), we were concerned about how art can be experienced in times of no museums. Our goal was not only to digitalise art but also to think about how people can interact in the ways. We created a mixed reality experience, where users can control different aspects of the experience with their phones, triggering chaos or order states.

Technology and Implementation

The project was developed with Unity 3D where two apps were created, desktop version and mobile app serving as controller. The two applications communicate with each other with network protocols.
